it has always been one of my biggest and most secret wishes to take pictures of the beautiful Schloss Neuschwanstein during winter season and in winter wonderland. I saw some pictures from the castle on the internet before and I was incredibly fascinated. The problem why I didn’t take any photos from the castle during winter time by now was that I had no time to go there. Last year we moved from Munich to Ingolstadt in March and the months before I had to organize and pack everything for the move. But this year I knew that I will have enough time for my winter holidays and therefore also for taking photos of Schloss Neuschwanstein in winter wonderland.
Already some days before heading to my winter holidays I knew that I have to catch the perfect moment to capture all the beauty of Schloss Neuschwanstein. I made a big plan. Early in the morning we had to get out of the bed and then, before all the tourists will be there, we should take our camera and shoot the photos during sunrise. Wow, the feeling was incredible. We drove down to the castle and we felt like in a fairytale. It is so difficult to describe how fascinating this place was during this moment when we arrived. The sun burst behind the mountains and the castle raised majestically between the pines and the snow covered hills. My breath faltered. Goosebumps unfolded all my skin, from the neck down to the back and my arms. The moment I was waiting for such a long time now arrived. The interaction of sunlight, snow, high fog and ice was stunning and breathtaking.
People say that King Louis II of Bavaria was mysterious, that he was a dreamer and a megalomaniac. What I can say is, that I am very grateful that people like him had the possibility to show the world all the beauty of their fantasy. Schloss Neuschwanstein in my eyes is one of the most beautiful and fabulous castles I know. When I look at my photos I took, I see a castle out of a fairytale. A castle where king and queen, prince and princess take the main role and where fabulous creatures live. I always loved fairytales with all my heart and I am over and over romantic. That Schloss Neuschwanstein makes my heart beat is no miracle anymore.
