on our north shore round trip we visited one hot spot after the other one. The north of Mykonos is definitely worth visiting as the south of the island. Yes, surely you don’t find party hot spots and no stylish beach bar restaurants or all the luxury hotels and boutiques, but you find a lot of other beauty. The beauty you find in the north is a natural beauty, breathtaking and amazing. I have to concede that especially the north of Mykonos captured my heart and I feel something very special for this part of the island where time seems to have stopped.
One of the most beautiful experiences I’ve made on our north shore round trip was the lunch at Kiki’s Tavern next to the beautiful Agios Sostis beach. It is a very well-known restaurant and you really have to go there early enough to get a table for lunch or dinner. And with early enough I mean that there is already a line one hour before opening. From 1pm to 7pm they serve fresh food from the grill every day in the week. The reason for only six hours opening is that Kiki’s Tavern works completely without power and so they don’t have electric light, hot plates for cooking, an oven or anything else restaurants usually have to serve their guests. I recommend to go there around 12pm. The first people in the line get a table with direct sea view. I was one of the lucky people who could enjoy this amazing view together with my husband and it was incredible. As I remember there are only four tables with direct sea view. I chose sword fish, salad and some house wine. My husband ate the sausages with a big delicious potato wrapped in kitchen foil.
Going to Kiki’s Tavern means to see another part of Mykonos and I can really recommend everyone to experience this place of natural beauty surrounded by freedom, silence and happiness. The owners of Kiki’s Tavern are very friendly and glad to call you their guest. We had a very nice conversation with people sitting right next to our table and all in all it was one of the most beautiful afternoons we enjoyed at Mykonos.
